Truly a colonial heritage hotel. Lots of work has been done to upgrade the hotel. Rooms were comfortable with a live fireplace set up by staff early evening. At night there were electric heaters. Restaurants had excellent colonial cuisine. The view from the Observation Point is just behind the hotel. The famous Mall, Glenary's patisserie and restaurant, Keventer's, Planter's is just a minute's walk away. You will have to drive up from Siliguri/Bagdogra airport/NJP train station.

I have stayed in Windamere with family and friends several times. I simply love Windamere. The old charm of tradition and the warm and efficient staff ***** with the location, the beautiful view and the comfort makes me choose Windamere when I go to Darjeeling. Mr.Amit and Mr.Harish have always looked after us with impeccable hospitality. Mr.Harish is always very kind and takes care of all with a smile. Windamere transports you to the British colonial era- the decors, furnitures, fixtures, meticulously done rooms, curated gardens.... every inch of the property oozes heritage.
I feel the only deterrent was the breakfast. Windamere, being a 150 years old British establishment who prides itself in maintaining the colonial charm should not indulge into trying to cook dhosa-idli, chola-batura or luchi-puri. None of them tasted authentic whereas the continental part was as good as it could be. So they should concentrate more on their specialties skill rather than trying to make everything for everyone!

A colonial heritage property which transports you back in time. The property has charming lawns and a sundeck which provides an outstanding view of the Himalayan ranges and Mt Khanchenjunga. The location of hotel is excellent it practically overlooks the Mall Road. A special thanks to Mr Amit the manager of the property

I absolutely loved my stay here! i was there for 2days, and the service, amicability and comfort levels were spot on! front office was very prompt as well as kitchen and others. Cleanliness, politeness and extreme levels of flexibility of the staff as well as spacious and comfy beds and clean linen makes me recommend windamere hotel to anyone

located at the primest of location just beside the Mall, easily accessible still by car. rooms are well maintained, food takes you back to the days of the British Raj as well as the modern tastes. the serene beauty of the environment with the colonial hangover embedded in the very structure of the establishment is an experience in itself. staff are very courteous and prompt and share anecdotes of famous dwellers of the days gone by..
